North Norfolk Food & Drink Festival

The North Norfolk Business Forum Agriculture Round Table is pleased to announce the first North Norfolk Food and Drink Festival.

This celebration of all that is best about food that is grown, reared, caught or made in North Norfolk, will take place in the Courtyard of Holkham Hall, home of the Earl of Leicester, on Saturday and Sunday, 4th and 5th September 2010.

During the Festival, up to 60 of North Norfolk’s finest food producers will be offering tastings and goods for sale. An added attraction is a rolling programme of cookery demonstrations, talks and demonstrations from local producers, advice from eminent North Norfolk chefs and celebrity cook-off challenges using local produce, all of which will take place in a Food Theatre with a large plasma screen to aid visibility. There will also be opportunities to meet the owners of a number of the region’s popular gastro pubs.

There is no entry charge, but Holkham Hall will charge a car parking fee of £2.50 per car.

British Food Fortnight

The Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival is a two week celebration of the abundance of good local food and drink to be found in East Suffolk. The Festival takes place throughout East Suffolk from Friday 24th September through to Saturday 9th October 2010.

On Friday 24th September we are organising a Conference entitled ‘Food.  Why we need to change our eating habits and how it can be done.’

At the main Festival weekend at Snape Maltings, on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th September, we’ll have over 70 exhibitors showcasing organic vegetables, fresh and smoked fish, rare breed meat and game, cheeses, frozen yoghurt, jams, beer, wine and lager.

The main festival weekend is an impressive two day programme of talks, workshops and cookery demonstrations from top chefs including Matthew Fort, Galton Blackiston, Valentine Warner, Sheila Dillon, Rose Prince,  Tommi Miers, Ruth Watson and Simon Wadham as well as many of your favourite local Suffolk chefs.

Admission at the entrance to the carparks will be £5 per person (under 13s free) which includes a Festival programme and jute shopping bag.  Parking at Snape Maltings is free.

Restaurants and cafés all over the UK are going nuts for National Nut Day by placing at least one ‘nutty’ dish on their menu on October 22 2010. Fairtrade nut company Liberation Foods, which is organising the first National Nut Day in the UK, is working with the support of the Sustainable Restaurant Association to ensure as many establishments as possible take part.

National Nut Day in the UK is being launched by Liberation Foods, the farmer-owned Fairtrade nut company which has pioneered Fairtrade nuts. October 22nd is well-established as National Nut Day in the USA and the farmers and staff at Liberation don’t want British nut fans to miss out any longer. National Nut Day will celebrate all that is great about eating nuts. As well as being a delicious snack and cooking ingredient. National Nut Day is also supported by the Vegetarian Society, the Vegan Society and Sustain, the Alliance for Better Food and Farming.

The World Fruit & Vegetable Show London 2010
